The 429 is one kind of a beast...

Looking at the entry list for the Daytona NNS race I see that David Ragan in the Go Canada Ford is sponsored by Certainteed, a manufacturer of building matierials sold throughout USA and Canada.

Certainteed is owned by Saint-Goban, a huge multinational company based in France. You would think a company based in France might want to sponsor a guy named Villeneuve, not Ragan.

I can see JV's point to a certain extent.

There's only one car. Is it any good? What if it crashes? (JV has already done the Bill Davis route)

Ranger is younger. Is JV willimg to take a ride away from him?

If JV has to use his own money, is there something better out there?

Speed had a good show on Kenny Wallace and his struggle to qualify for Daytona this year. Kenny's earlier career was more successful and then he took a bunch of junk rides that did his career no good. Last year, he was with RAB racing which was a good but poor organization. He drove for free. This year his goal was to qualify for Daytona. They were supposed to get a Daytona car from Red Bull but Red Bull backed out. He couldn't do pre testing because there was no car. He also mentioned what a struggle it was to get sponsorship. They managed to get American Ethanol and got a car.

I thought of JV when Kenny was at Daytona. In the end he didn't qualify. A huge disappointment.

He also mentioned that a cost for a licence went from $3000 to 8 or $10,000.

Maybe JV has decided its not worth it especially after being with Penske last year.

I think he should hire a sport psychologist. That's too much pressure for one man.

We learned this weekend that Jacques Villeneuve has made NASCAR tests last week... Several pilots of the Nationwide Series and the Sprint Cup drivers were in action, JV stood by recording the best time of the day in his 4th tour of runway.
